Participation Conditions and Fee:

The course is free of charge if participants attend at least 50% of contact hours and complete the training. If a participant discontinues the course, TalTech reserves the right to charge €672 + VAT.

DESCRIPTION

Target Group:
Small business owners and entrepreneurs planning to grow micro-enterprises, aiming to address challenges related to their company’s green objectives.

Objectives:
The course provides participants with knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to sustainability and practical opportunities for implementing sustainable practices in their companies.

Upon Completion, Participants Will Be Able To:

  • Evaluate sustainable practices to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs;
  • Understand relevant environmental laws and regulations to ensure compliance and avoid legal penalties;
  • Assess the impact of green logistics principles from micro- and macroeconomic perspectives;
  • Apply practical skills to implement sustainable practices that support long-term profitability and reputation;
  • Evaluate the economic effectiveness of sustainable projects;
  • Assess customer preferences for eco-friendly products to enhance market competitiveness.

Course Topics:

  1. Understanding regulatory frameworks related to sustainability, e.g., waste management laws and renewable energy policies;
  2. Benefits of sustainability certifications and eco-labels, and strategies to integrate green practices into business;
  3. Challenges in implementing specific sustainability areas for small business owners;
  4. Micro- and macroeconomic perspectives on green business operations;
  5. Waste reduction, recycling, and greening supply chains;
  6. Identifying waste sources in company processes and strategies for reduction and recycling;
  7. Implementing zero-waste initiatives and circular economy principles;
  8. Sustainable commuting practices for employees;
  9. Assessing lifecycle impacts of materials and understanding renewable resources and their benefits;
  10. Procurement and use of environmentally friendly materials, including sustainable packaging;
  11. Measuring sustainability performance and reporting, key performance indicators (KPIs), and ESG reporting tools;
  12. Risk mitigation and liability, including legal risks and environmental risk reduction strategies;
  13. Incentives for green initiatives, change management, and stakeholder engagement; overview of government support programs;
  14. Sustainable business practices and innovations, including case studies of successful sustainable small businesses;
  15. Consumer protection and eco-labels, advertising claims regulations, and labeling accuracy;
  16. Benchmarking company performance against industry standards and communicating sustainability achievements to stakeholders.

Learning Format:
The course is conducted in-person through a combination of lectures, discussions, and practical exercises.

Assessment:
Non-graded evaluation.

Completion Requirements:

  • Attend at least 50% of contact hours;
  • Complete a group project analyzing how topics covered in the course can be applied in company management practices.
